It's Still Cold

It's still cold.

The kids have gotten used to it.

On a recent hike, Silas and Rosemary climbed high up the hill in Inwood Hill Park.  I took this picture when they turned to look down at the park, and, beyond it, our neighborhood. 

Here's Silas playing on snow-covered rocks near the frozen marsh. 

He is not on an ice floe.  When the tide goes out, it leaves behind -- balancing on the rocks at water's edge -- beautiful sheets of ice.

Silas clambers down to smash them.

At the end of each day, mittens and hats cook atop the radiator.

Tess at One Month

Just like that, Tess is one month old.

At her one-month check-up, Tess weighed in at 9 lbs. 2 oz.  (up from 7 lbs. 11.5 oz.).  She's doing what she's supposed to be doing and everything works.

Our French pediatrician told Meredith, "She ess pairfect."



 

Paging the Tooth Fairy

Silas' first tooth fell out today, at Indian Road Cafe. 

All five of us were on hand to witness the event, along with Silas' friends Sophia (left) and Owen and their moms.

I told Silas:  "Some people say that if you put your tooth under your pillow at night, the Tooth Fairy takes it and leaves you money."

Silas said, "That's just your parents."

You can see that Silas has a lot more new teeth lined up.  The Tooth Fairy, if she exists, will be making a lot of visits this year.

It's Been Cold

Silas bundled in 12 degree weather.

Rosemary eating icicles.

Silas and Sophia spent three hours in crazily cold conditions and loved every minute of it.  The wind was blowing so hard off the Hudson that, by afternoon, it had blown most of the snow off the hill.
